Mankato Pet Cremation provides compassionate cremation services for family pets, as well as veterinary clinics and humane societies. Cremation Equipment from Firelake Manufacturing
Wendy knew that finding the right cremation equipment was essential. She discovered Firelake Manufacturing and after research decided to purchase the P16 SC4 Crematorium. She placed her order in January 2019 and the unit arrived on-site in March. Mankato Pet Cremation was ready for business! Using the P16 SC4 Cremator is simple for Wendy. She explains, “The feature I like the best about the P16 SC4 is the ground level clean-out door and the long-handle tool to remove the remains. It makes cleanout very quick and easy.” All cremation services are single, private cremations so that the pet remains can be honored according to the pet owner’s wishes.
Matching Animal Size to Crematorium Size
Since the P16 SC4 has a 400 lb. capacity, it can be used for larger animals such as bigger breeds of dogs. But Wendy has realized her business could also benefit from having a smaller crematorium for small house pets such as house cats. Matching up the size of the machine to the size of the animal will be more efficient on fuel since there is less chamber space to heat up. Wendy explained, “The additional crematorium will be suitable for one small animal at a time. I believe the small crematorium will provide fuel savings on small loads!” The small animal cremator, Model HP8-SC4, is a new product from Firelake Manufacturing that is still in the prototype phase. Since Mankato Pet Cremation is a small business with a need for cremating smaller house pets, Firelake felt like they would be a great fit for testing it.

Wendy revealed her goals for her cremation business, “Mankato Pet Cremation is my retirement plan since I’m not the type to sit down for retirement.” Even though the pet cremation business isn’t for everyone, Wendy loves working with people who need help honoring their pets. “People ask me often how I can tolerate working in pet cremation. I tell them, ‘we see the best of the human race in this work!’ People experiencing pet loss are so raw and real. All pretenses fall away such as politics and affluence, pet loss is very equalizing. People express their love through their grief. I am fortunate to have work that puts me in front of people who are exposing their very best selves.”
